Educational Robotics is an innovative way for improving effectiveness in learning and teaching processes. As in the past Game-based learning has been one of the most used approaches in didactic contexts to enhance the effectiveness of education, at the present the educational robotics is one of the most popular at all school levels. 
Robotic in education is based on Papert’s Constructionism theory: learning can be more effective when people are active in making tangible objects in the real world. Students can be more engaged in the learning process through design, creation and programming of tangible artifacts for creating personally meaningful objects and addressing real-world needs. This is particularly true for digital natives who need to be actively involved in the learning process to make it successful. 
The contexts in which Educational Robotics can be effective are different. The most common is to support learning of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), but also applications in social science and in foreign language learning are interesting, as an example.  Currently, it is necessary an exploration of the multidisciplinary potential of robotics as an innovative learning approach required for fostering the pupils’ and students’ creativity. Moreover, as multidisciplinary field, it promotes the development of operational thinking and problem solving, basic skills for any person.
This special issue focuses on the challenges and opportunities of Educational Robotics. The selected paper should describe researches, projects and best practices in this field aiming at reshaping future educational processes.
